Mr. Stevenson K. “Steve” Bennett, of Monticello, Kentucky, formerly of Decatur, Illinois, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky having attained the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 2 days. He was born in Bloomington, Illinois on Sunday, November 1, 1936, the son of Harold and Marguerite (Varner) Bennett. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, a veteran of the United States Air Force, and was retired from A.D.M. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his spouses, Peggy Ratliff, Carolyn Bennett, brother, David Duane Bennett, step-son, John Young, granddaughter, Trisha Fleming.
He is survived by his children, Risa Teeters of Tutor Key, Kentucky, Denise (& DJ) Hewing of Monticello, Kentucky, Melody (& Michael) Perry of Nippa, Kentucky, Celinda Simmons of Decatur, Illinois, step-son, Perry Young of Monticello, Kentucky, stepdaughter, Carol-Ann (& Charles) McCandless of Tennessee, siblings, Ruth Ann (& Gary) Joplin of Arizona, David Kee (& Amelia) Bennett of California, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, along with a host of family and friends.
The funeral service was conducted on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the Memory Chapel or New’s Monticello Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Allen officiating. Military honors were performed by the Monticello D.A.V. Chapter #105. New’s Monticello Funeral Home in Monticello, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of arrangements.
