Mr. Roger Dale Upchurch, of Monticello, Kentucky passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Wayne County Hospital in Monticello, having attained the age of 71 years. He was born in Monticello, Kentucky, on Monday, May 28, 1951, to Charles B. Upchurch and Lanie Parmley Barnett. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of Stubenville Baptist Church, and also attended Living Faith Pentecostal Church, was a member of Freedom Masonic Lodge #643 F&A.M.  Mr. Upchurch enjoyed playing card games, dominoes, golf, and spoiling his grandchildren. He was a retiree from Lake Cumberland Youth Development Center in Wayne County, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Upchurch.

          He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Dishman) Upchurch of Monticello, Kentucky, whom he wed December 20, 1969, his daughters, Marcia (Jonathan) Dick of Monticello, Kentucky, Misty (Shane) Murphy of Richmond, Kentucky, siblings, Shirley (J.B.) Johnson of Ashville, North Carolina, David Barnett, Fonda (Phill) Fowler, Avery Barnett, Troy (Doddie) Barnett all of Louisville, Kentucky, Rebecca Clark of Monticello, Kentucky, Rita (Michael) Latham of Arlington, Texas, and Ray (Julie) Upchurch of Monticello, Kentucky, grandchildren, Braxton (Taylor) Dick, Brody Dick, Baylee Murphy, and Maddox Murphy, with many other relatives and friends.

The Funeral Service was conducted on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. E.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home with Bro. Kelvin Upchurch and Bro. Seth Denney officiating. Casket bearers were Braxton Dick, Ray Winchester, Brody Dick, Forrest Sexton, Josh Dishman, B.J. Hurd, and Donnie Tucker. Honorary casket bearers were Maddox Murphy, and Baylee Murlhy. Burial was in Elk Spring Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky.
