Mrs. Nancy Lou (Crabtree) Jewell, of Monticello, Kentucky passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021 at her residence in Wayne County, Kentucky having attained the age of 78 years, 4 months and 18 days. She was born in Wayne County, Kentucky on Thursday, July 15, 1943, the daughter of Roy and Minnie (Hunley) Crabtree. She was of the Baptist faith, attended Pleasant View Baptist Church, and was an instructional assistant for several institutions including Wayne County School System. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edwin Ray Jewell, sisters, Betty Coffey, Knoxie Withers, Carrie Lamberson, brother, Francis Smith.
She is survived by her children, Melodie Phelps of Monticello, Kentucky, Karen (& Jason) Hicks of Monticello, Kentucky, Shelia (& Mark) Hughes, of Monticello, Kentucky, sister, Roxie Hicks of Monticello, Kentucky, grandchildren, Michael Ray Phelps (& Tracie Brummett), Cailin Hicks, Autumn Hicks, Riley Hicks, Malesha Hughes, Mariah Hughes, great-grandchildren, Parker Brummett Phelps, Kayson Denney, Gentry Coy, Bryar Southworth, Cali Dishman, Rylan Dishman, Elijah Foster, Jackson Brummett, and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was conducted on Monday, December 6, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home with Bro. Gabe Denney officiating. Casket bearers were Mark Hughes, Jamie Hicks, Stacey Duncan, Tim Withers, Tom Prater, Tyler Morrow. Burial was in the Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Mrs. Nancy Jewell memorial Fund. New’s Monticello Funeral Home of Monticello, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of arrangements.
