Mary A Dodson

Miss Mary A. Dodson, of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky having attained the age of 85 years, 3 months and 12 days.  She was born in Monticello, Kentucky on Friday, July 2, 1937, the daughter of Thomas O. and Hattie (Koger) Dodson. She was of the Baptist faith, member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello since the age of 8 years old, and a retired teacher, serving 29 years with the Monticello Independent Schools System. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Christine Hahn.

     She is survived by her special daughter and son-in-law, Lois (& Gary) Brummett, and was a special Nana to Makenlee Sweet, along with many former students and many friends.

     The funeral service was conducted Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Monticello with Bro. Mark Helton, and Glen Hickey Jr. officiating. Mrs. Lois Brummett provided a eulogy. Special singing by Peggy McKinley, with instrumental by Shelia Hickey. Casket bearers were Vernon Minard Jr., Bro. Mike Huffaker, Richard Ramsey, Duane Dunnagan, Michael Meadors, and Martin Breeding. Burial was in the Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky. New’s Monticello Funeral Home of Monticello, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of arrangements.
