Margie (New) Koontz

Mrs. Margie Ann (New) Koontz, of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the U.K. Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington, Kentucky having attained the age of 78 years,7 months and 12 days.  She was born in the Gregory Community of Wayne County, Kentucky on Wednesday, December 29, 1943, the daughter of George Wesley & Josie Elizabeth (Dodson) New. She was of the Baptist faith, member of Rogers Grove Baptist Church, a retired teacher from the Wayne County School System having attained her Bachelors Degree from Eastern Kentucky University, and her Rank 1 from Union College, and a member of the Monticello Womens Club, an expert and devoted Genealogist, member of the Retired Teachers Association, former member of the staff at The Wayne County Historical Museum, member of the Daughters of The American Revolution, and worked at First Southern Bank in her younger days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, William Punnett, Jr., Oral Correll, Robert Williams & Eugene Koontz, Paternal Grandparents, John Perry & Etna (New) New, Maternal Grandparents, Garfield & Leann (Gibson) Dodson.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (& Phoebe) Punnett, Wayne Punnett both of Louisville, Kentucky, brother, Joe (& Nida) New of Monticello, Kentucky, grandchildren, Jonah Punnett, Corrina Punnett, and many, many cousins & friends.

     The funeral service was conducted Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home in Monticello, Kentucky with Bro. Matt Minnich officiating, eulogy’s given by Wayne Punnett, and Dr. Michael Punnett, special singing by Kenny Owens.. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Eastern Kentucky Flood Victims Disaster Relief  Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
