Mr. Lonnie Kay Nevels of Bronston, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, at the U.K. Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington, Kentucky having attained the age of 66 years, 11 months and 18 days. He was born on Sunday, April 26, 1959, in the Bronston Community of Pulaski County, Kentucky, the son of Harvey & Geneva (Hall) Nevels. He was of the Baptist faith, loved motorcycles, fishing, riding horses, his family and spending time with them. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ralph Nevels, and Norma Jean Morrow.
He is survived by his children, Melinda (& Donald) Hicks, Eric (& Bailey) Nevels, Julie (& David) Crabtree, all of Monticello, Kentucky, Patrick Nevels of Bronston, Kentucky; siblings, Rosa Jackson, Wanda Dykes, Charlie (& Linda) Nevels, Bro. Jimmy (& Roxie) Nevels, all of Monticello, Kentucky, Lisa (& Arlon) Perkins of Liberty, Kentucky, Debra (& Jesse) Neely of Bronston, Kentucky; grandchildren, Amber Rose, Byron Gregory, Kelsey Dykes, Cheyenne Nevels, Rachel Nevels, Ezra Nevels, Raegan Nevels, Kaylee Carlson, Remi Crabtree; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The funeral service was conducted on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. EST in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Nevels officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery in Bronston, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Byron Gregory, Ezra Nevels, Josh Neeley, Hagan Rose, Cassey Neeley, Chad Worley, and Chris Patton.
New’s Monticello Funeral Home in Monticello, Kentucky, was honored to be in charge of all arrangements.
