Mr. John Corder Huffaker, of Monticello, Kentucky passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022 at the Wayne County Hospital in Monticello, Kentucky having attained the age of 77 years, 6 months, and 23 days. He was born in the Rogers Grove Community of Wayne County, Kentucky on Friday, August 4, 1944, the son of Dewey and Edna (Corder) Huffaker, He accepted Christ at the age of 13, was ordained as a deacon at the Rogers Grove Baptist Church at age 25. He was a founding member of Green Hill Baptist Church. He sang with his wife and daughter for many years at Rogers Grove Baptist Church, Meadow Creek Baptist Church, and Steubenville Baptist Church. He dedicated his life to helping others as evident by serving in the Kentucky National Guard, and serving as magistrate of the fourth district from 1989 till 1993. He was a member of the Steubenville Baptist Church, employed by Monticello Manufacturing, and American Woodmart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, John Perry Huffaker, siblings, Mary Una Sexton, George Huffaker, Thomas Huffaker, Joe Edd Huffaker.
He is survived by his spouse, Diann (Simpson) Huffaker, whom he wed on Saturday, March 13, 1965, of Monticello, Kentucky, daughter, Debra (& Mark) Huffaker Hargis of Monticello, Kentucky, along with many friends and extended family who will greatly miss him.
The funeral service was conducted on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home with Bro. Seth Denney, and Bro. Matt Minnich officiating. Casket bearers were Mark Hargis, Eric Simpson, Alvin Sexton, Mark Huffaker, Mike Huffaker, and Chris Dobbs. Burial was in the Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky. New’s Monticello Funeral Home in Monticello, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of arrangements.
