Mr. Jimmy Marcus Coffey of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Mountain Ridge Nursing Home in Wayne County, Kentucky, having attained the age of 71 years, 5 months & 3 days. He was born on Wednesday, June 3, 1953, in Monticello, Kentucky, the son of John Smiley & Ruby Lee (Watson) Matthews. Jimmy was of the Apostolic Faith, worked in logging, and worked with the circus. In his pastime he enjoyed fishing, trading items, and watching westerns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jewell Bell, Velda Pittman, Doris Bell, James Matthews, Glascow Coffey, Dovie Pruett, Eddie Matthews.
He is survived by his wife, Oleen (Hicks) Coffey, whom he wed on Thursday, July 5, 2007, daughters, Tina Prater, Ruby Prater, Debbie Prater, Loretta Prater and Judy Prater, step-children, April (& Roger) Dishman, Scottie ( & Annie) Dishman, Casey (& Chelsea) Dishman all of Monticello, Kentucky, Amanda (& Scotty) Davidson of Burkesville, Kentucky, siblings, Katherine Dobbs , George Matthews , Jerry (& Wanda) Matthews, Georgia (& Homer) Young all of Monticello, Kentucky, several grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
The funeral service was conducted on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. E.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home with Bro. Amos Dishman officiating. Burial was in the Dishman Cemetery in Wayne County, Kentucky. Casket bearers were Scottie Dishman, Casey Dishman, Hubert Pittman, Eddie Bell, Robert Pittman, Hoy Spears, and Menvil Dishman.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions appreciated to help defray final expenses and may be left at the funeral home.
