Mr. James Alvin Sexton, of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024, at his residence, having attained the age of 60 years, 11 months & 20 days. He was born on Tuesday, January 29, 1963, in Wayne County, Kentucky, the son of James Estill & Molly Jewell (Hunley) Sexton. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the First Church of God, worked for Sun Star, and loved hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Lee Sexton.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Clark) Sexton, whom he wed on Friday, March 7th, 1980, daughter, LaDonna (& Charles) Starnes of Paint Lick, Kentucky, siblings, Angela Sexton, and Judy Stevens, grandson, Paul Michael Starnes, and special nephew & caregiver, Nathan Sexton, all of Monticello, Kentucky.
The funeral service was conducted on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. E.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home, with Bro. Charles Starnes officiating. Burial was in the Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky. Casket bearers were Paul Michael Starnes, Jesse Ross, Tim Sexton, David Hughes, Nathan Sexton, Mark Hughes, Gordon Dobbs, and Danny Phillips.
