Mr. Fredrick Leon Ward of Monticello, Kentucky, formerly of Indiana passed away on Wednesday, January 08, 2025, having attained the age of 87 years, 7 months, and 27 days. He was born on Wednesday, May 12, 1937, in New Lisbon, Indiana, the son of Conwell & Florence E. (Lamberson) Ward. He was of the Baptist Faith, a deacon of Oak Grove Baptist Church, and retired from Delco Battery in Muncie, Indiana. In his free time, Fred loved woodworking, fishing, and hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Raymond E. Ward, Harold S. Ward Sr., Conwell Ward Jr., Charles H. Ward, Richard E. Ward, and Florence “Edna” Simmons.
He is survived by his wife, Jurldeen (Acrey) Ward, whom he wed on Friday, February 4, 1955, children, Jeffrey (& Julia) Ward of Crawfordsville, Indiana, Tamara (& Vincent) Bowman of Nancy, Kentucky, Licia (& Edward) Konick of Evansville, Indiana, Anita (& Carl) Lindsay of Corydon, Indiana, and Mark (& Rhonda) Ward of Monticello, Kentucky, grandchildren, Susan Ward Miller, Ellen Switzer, Bryan Swindell, Bradley Swindell, Braden Bowman, Heather Mitchell, Stacy Nurrenbern, Sye Barton, Karlee Barton, Madison Wilson, Matthew Lindsay, Grant Ward, and Daniel Ward, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was conducted on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. E.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral home with Bro. Tommy Floyd and Bro. David Sargent officiating. Special music was by Linda Martin. Burial was in the Taylor’s Grove Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Bryon Swindell, Matthew Lindsay, Braden Bowman, Grant Ward, Bradley Swindell, Sye Barton, and Daniel Ward. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to The Gideon’s International, donations may be left at the funeral home. New’s Monticello Funeral Home of Monticello, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of all the arrangements.
