David DeWayne Godsey

Mr. David Dewayne Godsey, of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky having attained the age of 54 years, and 3 months. He was born in Bedford, Indiana on Thursday, May 16, 1968, the son of Wilburn Boyce & Carolyn Ann (Allen) Godsey. He was of the Baptist faith, member of Zion Baptist Church, and a 1986 graduate of Wayne County High School. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary East, maternal grandfather, Herbert (& Sue) Allen, paternal grandparents, Rev. James & Vina (Phillips) Godsey, great-grandmother, Haley Jane Godsey, aunts & uncles, Windell Godsey, Cathy Godsey, Brian Allen.

He is survived by his brother, Windell Eugene “Gene” (& Lori) Godsey of Monticello, Kentucky, nieces & nephews, Chasidy Nicole Godsey of Calhoun, Georgia, Casey Eugene Godsey of Monticello, Kentucky, great-nieces & nephews, Brayden Godsey, Jaxon Fletcher, Isaac Fletcher, special friends, Gary Sexton, Mary Smith Morrow, Shawn Galloway, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

     The funeral service was conducted Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home in Monticello, Kentucky with Bro. Lonzo Tucker Jr. officiating, special singing by Heaven Bound. Casket bearers were Michael New, Brian Jones, Richard Rose, Donavan Tucker, Dean Rose, Jamie Alton, Jason Alton, Phillip New, and Richie Jones. Honorary casket bearer was Shawn Galloway. Burial was in the Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky. New’s Monticello Funeral Home of Monticello, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of arrangements.
