Mr. Bruce Upchurch of Monticello passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Wayne County Hospital having attained the age of 89 years, 5 months & 27 days. He was born Tuesday, July 3, 1934 in The Powersburg Community of Wayne County, Kentucky the son of Cosby Upchurch, Sr. & Vera (Lowe) Upchurch. He was of the Baptist Faith, retired from Belden’s, a Master Mason in the Monticello Masonic Lodge # 431 F. & A.M., enjoyed U.K. Basketball, Politics, Whittling, & Farming. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene (Morgan) Upchurch whom he wed on August 1, 1960 she passed on November 10, 1993, Brother, Cosby Upchurch, Jr., sisters, Aderene Tuggle & Lois Clark Poe, Nephew, Steve Parmley, infant Nieces, Cassie Renee Slagle, Lois Fay Clark, infant Nephew, Everett Ray Clark.

      He is survived by his sons, Gary Upchurch (& Kathy Bright) of Florida, Alan (& Karen) Upchurch of Science Hill, Kentucky & Scott Upchurch of Monticello, sisters, Bonnie Slagle & Mary Parmley both of Monticello, Grandchildren, Morgan B. Upchurch & Abby Upchurch, Nieces & Nephews, Shirley Upchurch, Joe Upchurch, Ronnie Clark, Kathy Choate, Brenda Williams, Becky Correll, Melissa Salyer, & Earlene Vaughn, several Great Nieces & Nephews, and many, many friends

     The funeral service was conducted on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. E.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home with Burial in The Elk Springs Cemetery. Casket bearers were Joe Upchurch, Michael Upchurch, Ron Clark, Paul Tucker, James Ralph Davis, Bill Patton, Conley Gregory, Danny Correll, and Bill Henderson. Masonic Rites were given at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in the Chapel of the Funeral Home by Monticello Masonic Lodge # 431 F. & A.M. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials to The Gideon Bible program.
