Mr. Billie Everet McClellan, of Monticello, Kentucky passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024 at his residence in Monticello, having attained the age 91 years, 10 months, and 26 days. He was born in Monticello, Kentucky on Monday, July 4, 1932, the son of John & Emma (Butler) McClellan. He was of the Baptist faith, attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and was Deacon of the church for over 47 years. Billie proudly served in the U.S. Army, and as the Chief of Police for the Monticello Police Department. He worked as construction supervisor for Beldon’s, was a member of the Lions Club and the Monticello City Council. Billie also loved fox hunting, and square dancing. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Bernice (Harris) McClellan, whom he wed on Saturday, December 20, 1952, sons, Billy K. McClellan, Stephen McClellan, brother, Kenneth McClellan, sisters, Bertha Whittle, Marry Amburgey, Ona Standley, Versa Piercy, and Ruthie Gregory.
He is survived by his daughter, Vickie D. (& Gary) Gregory of Monticello, sister, Sula Hodges of Cincinnati, Ohio, grandchildren, Jennifer Dalton, Derek Gregory, Kaitlyn Foster, Nathaniel McClellan, Cheyenne McClellan, Jaden McClellan, Jordan McClellan, Michael McClellan, great-grandchildren, Mckenzie, Kamryn, Kaylee, Kenzleigh, and Rowen.
The funeral service was conducted on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. E.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of New’s Monticello Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Meece, Bro. Keith McKim, and Bro. Danny Bell officiating. Burial was in the Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were, Phillip Burton, Nathanial McClellan, Gary Cassada, Gary Smith, Paul Slagle, Webb Upchurch, and Chris Dobbs. Honorary Casket Bearers were Roger Criswell, and Kay Allen. In lieu of flowers, contributions appreciated to the Mt. Zion Baptist building fund or to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, donations may be left at the funeral home.
